ELLIOTT'S BANKRUPTCY.
Per Press Association. Auckland, Monday. Elliott was a steerage passenger from Sydney by the Moana. When the boat was berthed he went to the police station and gave himself up voluntarily. A press representative, on visiting the watch-house, was confronted by a Smart - looking individual seated at a table with a book within reach and a huge enamel pannikin and slice of bread and butter before him. During a few minutes' conversation Elliott stated that Jie had no difficulty in getting away unobserved. "Most of my time I was in Melbourne,'' ho said, "and from there I had plenty of opportunities to go anywhere I liked to get clear away. When 1 got there, however, I decided I would not go anv further. The suspense was awful for one thing, and I couldn't stand it, so here 1 am.
1 gave myself up voluntarily to the police. If I had had any money when I reached Auckland I would have continued my journey to Wellington and given myself up there." I'-liott was charged before the Court to-day with stealing £l2 received from Henry Robson on account of Kenneth Douglas and failing to account for it. The police asked for a remand to Wollington. Elliott oll'ered no objection, and tile application was granted.
