Thomas Leonard Eastern, alius Wilson, who was sentenced at Napier to three rears' imprisonment for highway robbery under arms, escaped from Wai<itupii Prison yesterday. NAPIER HOSPITAL, Napier, Last Night. At a meeting of the Napier Hospital trustees to-day, the chairman said that at his request Dr. Valintine, InspectorGeneral of Hospitals, had visited the hospital and inquired into matters which AW ,7. McGrath desired to be-in-vestigated. _As a result McGrath had decided to withdraw his motion that an inquiry he held. MAGISTRATE'S COURT. Chrintchurcli, Last Night. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Charles Hryenton was charged with stealing £i4 from Michael O'Brien at Malswell. Chief Detective Cbrystall stated that the accused had been employed at the Telegraph Department's camp, and while there took the amount stated. The accused stated that if given an opportunity lie would refund the money, and the Magistrate remanded him till to-morrow morning for the Probation Officer's report.
