A YOUNG MEN'S CLUB.
To the Editor. Sir— 1 noticed in Thursday's issue a letter from '-Interested," in which he iutroducedto the public the Roland Catholic Club. "Interested" says: "This chili, althoupgh essentially Catholic, does not limit its membership to Catholics, non-Catholica being eligible for election as members under certain conditions.'' lam given to understand that I, being a non-Catholic, am entitled to join the club, but, being a non-Cath-olic, am not entitled to a voice in the management or a seat on the executive. Now, when I saw your report that Mr Parker addressed his opening speech to Catholics, I began to hare my doubts about the non-sectarian lines of the club. At any rate, the Roland Catholic Club will not, I fear, fill the hill. One insuperable objection is that the club room is situated in church grounds, and is only accessible by the ordinary i church entrance, right under the win-' dows of another religious institution. What we want, sir, is a club where everyone, Catholic or non-Catholic, is entitled to membership and eligible for election to the management committee upon his complying with the club's rules drafted for each and every memwithout distinction. Your correspondent has drawn public attention to one of New Plymouth's weak points, and I shall b e pleased to hear of the successful formation of a cosmopolitan club for young men.—l am, etc., ALSO INTERESTED.
