Si cad b,v all classes of the conmiuuity was evidenced by the large and representative attendance of citizen* at his funeral, which took place "'is afternoon. There were present representatives of the many important commercial enterprises witii which the late Mr. Stead had been no intimately connected, members of the different sports bodies and clubs to which he belonged, representative* of th 0 different local bodies and other organisations with which he had been associated directly or indirectly, and a host of private from all parts of New Zealand. Upon and around the collin were plated a multitude of beautiful wreaths and Moral tributes, including several from jockey clubs. Quite a number of people had assembled at the lemetery, and there was a very largo concourse of mourners at the graveside, where an impressive burial service was conducted.
