The police under the circumstances applied for a remand, stating that Mr. Essex was a ' more or less interested party. Mr Essex replied that the matter was of a petty nature and declined to adjourn the ease. Hie police persisted in their application to have the ease reserved in the absence of a second Justice, who had been I duly summoned, but failed to appear.
