HOUSEHOLDERS' MEETINGS
DURHAM ROAD. At the meeting oi householders for the Durham Road School District on -Monday last Uiere was a good attendance of settlers, and considerable interest was evinced in the appointment: of a new committee, seven members being required. The chairman of the retiring committee (Mr. J. A. Hridgeman) gave a resume of the past year's business, and then culled for nomination.-. Mr. Bridge man declined nomination, stating that he thought others could more conveniently attend meetings. Mr. .1. Salisbury.'another of the retiring members, also declined, as also did Mr. Joe Simpson, who tor the past ten years has attended to the duties of clerk, etc. After a great deal of hesitation and a considerable amount of "barrack" the following were nominated and declared elected:—Messrs. W. Langley, Joe Corney, F. Corney. .1. Mischewski, J. Wisnewski, J. Dombroski, and J. Dodunski—a committee of five J's. At a subsequent meeting Mr. W. ] lang'ey was appointed chairman and Mr. Joe Corney secretary. Mr. J. Salisbury considered the thanks of the community were due to Mr. Simpson, who had lor such a long period attended to edcuational matters on Durham Road, and regretted the fact that the school committee was unable to make a more suitable recognition or the services rendered.
