PROTEST AGAINST DISBANDING VOLUNTEERS. Received 29th, 11.50 p.m. Capetown, April 29. An influential deputation, including manv members of Parliament, waited on - !sie Colonial Secretary at Capetown to protest against the proposed disbandbandment of naval volunteers. I [Messrs Sprigg, Sehreiner and Sniartt suggested that the Admiralty consent to defray the cost from the colony's contribution to the Royal Navy. Mi*. Dc Wall disclaimed any intcn.tjan to weaken the tie with the Mothand promised to reconsider the suggestion, but the Ministry was bound to reduce expenditure by a million.
