One point to which every merchant and manufacturer can well afford to give attention is that of educating jieople to appieviatc and demand a belter grade of merchandise than they would ordinarily buy. There is no advantage in making the same grade of goods rear after year when the public might be taught to demand a better grade. A better quality of goods requires moore •kill to make, and so develops the skill of the workmen; it requires a higher older of salesmanship, and so makes the talesman an educational influence; and its self new standards for the consumer and so lifts his plane of living.
