Regret was expressed in sporting circle* when the news was circulated" that Elevation was lame, and that those who antcipated a great equine battle between the New Zcalander and Mountain King were likely to be doomed to disappointment. Elevation had done a ding-dong mile with Castaway. The hitter had a couple of lengths advantage at the start, but Elevation was a neck in front at the linish, doing the distance in liuiu. 45sec. The New Zealander was found to be lame at the conclusion of the gallop. PATEA ACCEPTANCES.
