FITZROY FIRE BRIGADE.
The fourth' annual meeting of the Fit/.loy Fire Unmade took place on Friday night. Captain F. C. (inH'illis pre-ided. There was almost a full muster of members. Two new member;. Me--!':. ( l-iirch and li. Kikby, were elected. "I lie resignation of Fireman T. I look V> a- received with regret. l-'iremau W. 11. Crilliths gave nil interesting report of the proceedings at the 1'.F.11.A. Conference, at which lie wan the brigade's delegate. Amongst the matters that interested tlie brigade was the ruling he obtained from the pre-ident a- to the dclinitiun of "standing." this having been the ground ol a protest at the recent competition in the llecreatiun Grounds. As it completely accorded with the judge's decision in disiiii-sing the protest, the ruling proved highly satisfactory to the members. The delegate was accorded a hearty vote of thanks fur his service-. The annual balance sheet »a- adopted. showing a delieit on tic geneial account of L"S :Js Id, irrespective of th • co-t of new gear just to hand. The uniform account showed a credit balance of about .CIS, including C 7 advanced for tlie purchase of material to'' the bazaar. In commenting on the finances, the captain congratulated the brigade on its position. The election of olliccrs then took place. Captain Griffiths notitied that owing to his now being out of the l'itzj rov district, and more particularly on I account of health reasons and pressure I of business, he found himself unable to
continue in ollice.
