THE BLACKBALL STRIKE.
STRIKE TO CONTINUE. T1 XESIDE MINERS WITIIUUAW suppokt. Per I'ress Association. Greymoutli. bast Night. On Saturday Ihe executive of the .Blackball .Miners' I'nion sent in their resignations. As a meeting had been called, the members rol'ed up and an election was taken, the old executive, with the exception of Mr. Uaruhill, offering themselves for re-election. The reason given for JJaniliiU's abstention was that, as lie work* on the NgahereBlaekball railway, lie found it was very inconvenient for him to give ilie timeto the duties of his ollice as president. The following ollieer* were nominated and declared c .leeted: President, Mr. Fox; vice-president, Mr. Pmchanan; secretary, Mr. llogers; committee, Messrs. Meociuim, Webb, Hall, Miliigan, W. Leitch, and liichards. The following telegram to the secretary, Mr. llogers, was read:—"Mr. Tregear wished that his portion should he dealt, with by the executive. —(Signed) lliekey." A wire from .Mr. Pritcharl to Mr. Rogers was also read as follows: '"Don't resign, despue traitors; keep a solid front and victory will be ours: doii'l hee. I the ela inuring of a lew creature- who would ratiier be slaves than free men. Vours in the cause of union and justice. Pritehard." It was decided to continue the strike and remain linn iu the demand for half an hour crib time.
It is reported that over UoOO was distributed in strike pay on Saturday, the basis of payment being 30s for a man, 10s for Ids wife, and ."is for each child. One miner lifted Ills for the week.
The Tyneside Miner*' I'nion met on Saturday and rescinded the resolution agreeing to give .support to the strikers. The Wharf Laborers' Union met this morning to consider the question of withdrawing support, but the Press was not admitted, and all information as to the result was withheld.
