a crisis. VOTE OF CENSURE PASSED. Melbourne, April 10. in the Federal House of Representatives at a late hour last night, the Preluer, Mr. Deakin, suffered a reverse which caused him to adjourn the llouso till Wednesday in order that the Government might consider the position-
The crisis arose out of a motion moved by Mr. Webster for the appointment of a Royal Commission to supersede the Cabinet Committee which is now affout to commence an inquiry into Post Office disorganisation. The adjournment of the debase was moved, and in the vote the Ministerialists were defeated by 31 to 28. Mr Deakin intimated that he accepted this vote as a censure on the Government. What the result would be depended largely upon the Labor Party. As the Labor Party caucus was not solid in the vote on Mr. Webster's proposal, it is probable the trouble will be smoothed over. MUOH SPECULATION CAUSED. RUMORED PREMIER'S RETIREMENj A COALITION GOVERNMENT ~ SUGGESTED. Received 10th, 11.47 p.m. Melbourne, April 10. The political situation is causing much speculation. Ministers held a consultation and a Labor caucus discussed the situation today. Mr. Deakin and Sir' William Lync also conferred with Mr. Fisher ana Mr Watson. .1 •,
Many rumors are current. One "ia 'hat Mr. Deakin intends to retire and Sir William Lyne will attempt to form a coalition administration with the Labor Party.
It is stated tliat strong pressure is bein brought upon Mr. Deakin to induce him to take another view of the situation. . _ j
