COLONIAL COMPANIES' DIVIDENDS. Loudon, April 5. The Trust Agency Company of Australasia his declared a dividend of 7'/. per cent. 1). and A. Murray's dividend is 10 per cent.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Wellington, Monday. The Department of Industries ; ind Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated April 4:-l-'rozen meat—The mutton market is very linn, with belter demand, but there is a scarcity of prime quality mutton. There is 'no change in price. River Plnle mutton is quoted at A'/A. The lamb market is very firm, with a better tone. Stocks on hand are light and the prospect* for the sale of Kffl' Zealand lamb this season are good. Canterbury lamb is quoted at s%<l,other than Canterbury ,Vy K il. There is a better demand for beef. Hindquarters are living quoted at 3%d, forequarter.s 2%d.
Butter- The market is firm, with improved demand. Supplies will be moderate. Following are current quotations:—Choicest New Zealand Ills, Dmish Ills, Australian 107*j Siberian 107s. Argentine 108s. Cheese —The market is quiet but steady, and there is no change in prices'.
Hemp—The market is .steady. \\:itli improved demand, but tile demand is dependent on Manila crop reports. Following are current quotations:— Good fair grade on the spot £25 lfls, fair grade on the spot '£23 10s, fair current Manila £24 10s. April to June shipments: Good fair grade £25, fair grade £23 10S, fair current Manila £24 10*. The stock of New Zealand hemp held in London amounts to 384 tons.
Cocksfoot seed—The market is firm, but there is less demand. The price is SOs, for bright, clean New Zealand seed weighing l(7lbs per bushel. In order to push sales of cocksfoot, lower prices would have to be accepted. Hops—The market is very dull, and is becoming more depressed on account of the large shipments which have arrived. Current quotations are: Best quality English 60s, American 40s. Following are the shipments from River Plato which have .arrived during March:—Mutton: London 38.300: Liverpool 51.070, Hull 8.84. Newcastle 8225. Cardiff 12.30, Plymouth 048 carcases. Lamb: London 2480, Liverpool 10,007. Hull 1077, Newcastle 1000, Cardiff nil, Plymouth 100 carcases. Mutter: Liverpool and Southampton 879fiewt.
