Since the opening of the season in September there has been shipped from the breakwater 120,085 packages of butter, valued at £291,178; and 24,317 cases of cheese valued at £84,121. During the corresponding period last season, 11>3,011 packages of butter valued (at 100s per cwt.) at £(07,320 and 12,018 cases of cheese (at 50s per cwt.) £42,000, were shipped.
The above figures show a great falling off in the butter shipments, which the increase iu cheese shipments would seem to have hardly made, good. The actual returns, however, will be much better than the estimate on which the values for this season are based, and a very considerable proportion of the apparent £74,000 shortage will bo accounted for. During the month I'atca shipped 1021 boxes of butler of the value of £2.">-">2, and 553:1 cases of cheese, valued at £15,490. Since the opening of the season I'atea has shipped 45.374 boxes of butter, valued at £l3l.'iii3, and ii3,Ki',.-i boxes of cheese, valued at £1178.317.
The total shipments of the Taranaki province for the season to date, based on the above figures, aggregate butter £422,841, and cheese £202,438. It is estimated that between £25,000 and £30,000 was in store at the end of March
