THOUGHTS ON BUSINESS.
On e of the most unpleasant and unwholesome things in the business world is for a worker to live in constant fear of In's business superior. Sometimes it is the fault of the man in authority, who tries to lord it over his employees, and seems to enjoy the evidences that I hey are afraid of him. U»t often the employee develops a fear of his employer or manager when there is no such rea-on for it. He dreads the presence of the manager, dislikes to see Jiiin come into the room, and heaves an inward sigh of relief when he goes out. It is plain to all that such a condition is thoroughly wrong, and neither employer nor employee can afford to have it continue.
What can a poor, frightened employee do to rid himself of a fear of his employers? In the first place he can reason with himself that he has a right to work there and not be afraid—and he can assert that right. He can remember that superior and inferior are largely matters of convenience in business organisation, and that these terms do not necessarily imply a fundamental relationship. Aside from the busiwss, one man may lie as much of a man as another—and each has an equal right to live his life and to pursue happiness according to his light. Remembering this one thing will do much to preserve a man's self esteem and so lessen his tear of any oilier human being, regardless of business relationship.
