DAIItY I'UOUI'CE REPOUT. Jfo-sr-. K. Crilliths and Co., dairy produce e.\porter-, New I'lymouUi, are in receipt ot the following market report i rum their London principals, Me—r». Mil!> and sparrow, dated 14th Filirnarv:
Weather continue- -ea-onablc. seve-.r.l da>"» being <|uite uann and Mintn, with occasional tro-U at night. The main ieature of the market has l>een a still further jump on the price*. quoted in ouv la>t, and buyer? have to pay the ex trenift rates demanded, as the <upn!;up till now- has no i>ecn quite aiiilici-Mit for the demand. ihe total imports of all description* <f butler into the Unite Kingdom i r the six weeks* ending S; i Februan "a>t -how a deereav -if l'*2,l»_ . equal to ;li.oini ImiKv'4 weekly. The retailers have materially advanced their prices, and the principal retailer?, who were previous!;.* , making a specialty of shilling bmter. 1 are now 1> 2d and 1* .'hi, *» ith prospects "i >till higher prices, a> the retail price [ considerably Itelow the wholesale. It ' ••'Jiain* to be seen if the demand can
./t; maintained with these big advances, ,:it it is a fact that during the paH ourteen days there has Ik'cu a materhl increase in the demand for margarine, which previously had not been selling, at all well, but it must be borne in mind that until fourteen day* ago no change of any note was made in the retail price. Danish: A big demand was thrown on to this description owing to the high price of colonial, so that Cojiechagen yesterday advanced 10 kroner 112s), which should check the demand. Sib* rian arrivals are very small indeed, quotations being nominal. French: Advances of 9s to lUs have l>een made during the week, and at the-e prices some 30 per cent, more butter has been shipped from Prance, the high priests evidently bringing the goods. American: Shipments continue to eipand, and nearly 7000 packages were shipped last week, with an expected increase this [week: quiteeomiurmqualities are gelling j at 12tis to 13'K as there is no 'description of underprieed butter nfiVx'ing. Australian: In our report of the 7th instant we quoted that prices were nominally 13d-; to Uik for goods to arrive per Omrah, but it was fouu.i buyers came at the goods pretty freely, so 150s was asked ami obtained, so that quotations thU week show an increase of 30 per cent, over thobe ruling three weeka ago, which is a record advance on colonial butter in this country. The goods are steadily going out, but there is more butter ottering than lias been the case for >otue weeks past, ami it , can hardly be exacted that the present ; extreme prices can be maintained. New : Zealand: Prices tor the last arrival per 3.8. Tongariro *eetu very low when compared with to day's rates, as 130s is demanded for now due to arrive per s.s. lonic, but at this extreme pri:o th e demand is not too keen. Milled aad dairy have been selling at fabulous prices owing to the -caivity of underpriced gOod> which are wanted for the low-price retail trade. Wo are sorry to hear of unfavorable weather from this colony and the considerable shrink in supplies.
Cheese.—Canadian; Market is firm, with a shade in«»ri» bu-iness passing; quotations unchanged. New Zealand: There is a little better feeling, and last arrivals hare been well cleared; agents arc endeavoring to make Is more for goods to arrive per -.s. lonic; the high price of butter may stimulate the demand for ehees«. Quotations. Butter: Danish, 14S*, 1525. J 33a; French, 130«. 148s; Russian and Siberian, 140s, 144-. 14*Js: Victorian. New South Wale*, Queensland, all, l
