PURE FOOD REGULATIONS.
- . .'-PROTEST AGAINST MILK STANDARD. Per Press Association. » Auckland, Last Night. ! A conference of members of the A. ; and I. Association, Milk Suppliers' Association, and Milk Vendors' Association was held this afternoon to protest against the milk standard requiring a Ma test set by the new health and tood regulations. Mr. John Masscv referred to the difficulties which would confront the dairy farmers under the new regulations. He said that it would be impossible to obtain such a standard ail the year round. Mr. I. Cray moved, "That the Government, before finally lixmg the standard for milk, be requeued to make inquiries of scientists, daivvmen, milk-factory managers, and Government farm managers, and. if necessary, arrange for a series of experiments to ascertain if 3.25 was a fair average test." Mr. Milieu seconded the motion. I Mr. Tanslcy, representing the Mi ! k Vendors' Association, agreed that the standard was altogether too high. Mr. Pilkinglon said the Department seemed bent on increasing the '-unholy revenue" of the police court by imposing an impossible standard. After further discussion the motion was carried.
