The. weather to day is sii boisterous that the swimming championships have been lurtuer postponed till to-morow morning. Napier, Last NightThe soul h-w est crly S hU: which blew on Thursday nig/it sunk several of the yachts in tin- inner harbor. The Gou(lola, Jolaulho, and Erie were sunk, and ilr. .1. Vigor Brown's line launch was also sunk. The Tuna, a AVellington yacht, was blown on to th<. Pelane beach. 11 is not thought that serious damage has been done Ui any of the boats. The weather now shows signs, of clearing.

Several yachts broke from their moorings in the river i and others were sunk. i AT WAIBOA. Wairoa, Last Night. Last night a heavy thunderstorm and gale were experienced. Sheds wer.i blown down and verandahs uplifted. The river is in Hood, but so far no difiiagj* has been experienced. The rainfall for 24 hours was 4-12. The river is still rising. t AT WELLINGTON. Wellington, Last Night. The southerly gale continued all last night and to-day with intermittent rain from !) ii.ni. yesterday to the same hour to-day. The wind averaged a velocity of .J.")!/, miles an hour, and the total speed (or 2-1 liffnTs, 1042 miles, is a record for Wellington. Shipping was, of course, interfered with to some extent, and vessels arriving report experiencing heavy yvcather at sea. A ROUGH PASSAGE. AVellington, Last Night. The steamer Manuka came into port this afternoon with a heavy list to star'hoard. She had a very rough passage from Napier. A "hurricane," Captain Phillips called.it. The steamer rolled terrifically, and almost all the passengers suffered from seasickness. One of them, Mr. Fotheringham, bound for Lyttelton, was Somewhat seriously injured this morning. He was lying on a cushion in the social hall, and during a particularly heavy lurch the couch came away. Air. Fotheringham was badly cut about the head, and his foot was injured. The Manuka's cargo shifted, giving her the . list, referred to', but no injury was done to the deck fittings. Captain Phillips was on the bridge Soon after leaving ,' Napier. Owing to the bad bar at Onehunga yesterday, the Takapuna could not get away. The local ollice of the Union Steamship Company advise thut she will leave Onohuiiga at !> o'clock this morning. She should arrive at the breakwater about 7 o'clock to-night, and will proceed to Wellington nft?r discharging her cargo. The Rarawa was over six hours late ill arriving at the breakwater yesterday morning, it being half-past 'in before she berthed. She encountered a head wind and a heavy sea after crossing the bar, and a very rough trip was experienced, part of the wooden raili.ig on the starboard side being broken. It is reported that out of a passenger-list of sixty only three put in an appearance at breakfast.
Tin' Coi'inna also had a rough passage from Wellington yesterday. Heavy seas were encountered out side'the W'Aliugton Heads. Her engine-room door was smashed in. The after biuuaele was carried away and one of the lifelaiit.-- broke its lashings. A fireman was knocked down by a sea. and haii to receive medical attention on arrival here. A heavy sea caught one of the officers, who, however, escaped injury. Her cargo of 1100 lons was undamaged.
