The .Minister ol Agriculture, interviewed by a Times reporter, furnished some interesting particulars regarding the tiovernment's proposals. The sites for the location of the Dairy School that came under tile consideration of Cabinet were Jiawera, Stratford, Feilding, Levin, and Palmerston North. With the settlement of the site quesfion, the Government will now be able to proceed with the development of a scheme whicli it lias had under consideration for some time.

The. school will be in charge of Mr. VV. M. Singleton. Acting Dairy Commissioner, who last year visited Canada and tireat Britain in order to acquire the fullest information in regard to ste-ii establishments. It is proposed to appoint a bacteriologist and chemist to the stall of the school, which will have a llMiroughly-ei]ui|ij)cd laboratory and lecture rooms for students. This will mean the erection of fairly extensive buildings on the site, including a butter factory and a cheese factory.

It is probable that a commencement will he made with the erection of the factories this -casou and provisions made for a course of lectures during ti nsuiug winter. The laboratory aloimnodation will Tiio-t likely he deferred until tin- bacteriologist and chemist have been appointed, and it is hoped to combine these two positions in one man. to whom will bo left the erection of the laboratory plant. In regard to students, the idea is to train them for the positions of factory managers, whether butter or cheese, and to make provision for their gaining something in the nature of a diploma after a certain course of instruction. It is hoped to establish a diploma that in time will come to l>e regarding as a. condition precedent to securing the positon of manager of a dairy factory, just the same as a diploma is now granted at a School of Mine-.
