Christcbureh, I.a-t Night,

At the New Zealand Cricket Council to-night a letter was received from the Auckland Association accepting Otago'* challenge for the Plunket Shield, and it was resolved to invite Otago to play the match during the Christmas holidays, «o that the New Year holidays will be available for possible second challengers should Otago be unsuccessful. The Council resolved to arrange for an overdraft of JElflO in order to re-pay guar- ! antors of the English tour. It was also decided to endeavor to arrange a visit of a New South Wales team next season, it being understood that a good team would tour the Dominion at no expense to the associations or Council beyond bare travelling expenses, the Council taking all the gate money. An oiler from Mr. E. H. Williams, of Napier, for a school shield for coui[>etiuou among public school was accepted. It was r«solved to write to the Marylebone Club for an interpretation of the new qualification rule and its application to NewZealand cricket.
