When it was announced in Tokio that the United States fleet would visit Australia, aa official of the Foreign Office at Tokio stated that the decision to send the fleet oa tour of the world would Silence all talk of war and guarantee peace between America and Japan. j AUSTRALIA'S WELCOME.
Melbourne, March 18. The Federal Premier, Mr. A. Deakin, I at the conclusion of a speech on na-! tional defence, said the American fleet jrould receive a welcome in Australia such as it had never before seen outside its own country. Senator Playford, Minister of Defence, Speaking on the coming visit of the American fleet, said it was most gratifying to Australia. He added: "We feel that our future in the Pacific is bound up in that of America." FLEET TO BE INVITED TO NEW ZEALAND.
