New York, March U Walsh, president of tli e defunct Ch cago National Bank, convicted on ■ charge of has been refused a rc-trialand sentenced to 5 years' in the penitentiary. He has appealed against the eonvictioa and been released on bail amounting to £IO,OOO. The Judge remarked that a banker ought to be nothing but a. banker. Nobody viould serve two masters. Walsh had practically lent himself for purposes of speculating three-fourths of the bank's assets.
