BRITAIN' S SUGGESTION CAUSES A
SENSATION.
London, March 12.
The Xote on Macedonia sent to the Power* by Sir 15. Grey, Foreign Secretary, suggested the appointment of a Governor-General in Macedonia, either a Christian or a Mohammedan, for a., term of years, the appointment to be' on the lines of the Governorship o£ Lebanon. »
The proposal created a sensation in Austria, where it is believed Sir E. Greylias already obtained the support of Russia, France, and probably Italy.
BRITAIN'S ATTITUDE.

London, March 13. ' Sir Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign affairs, has Informed Russia and Italy that Britain's attitude is one of benevolent neutrality towards all the Macedonian railway schemes, but that she will not support any of these actively until the Porte agrees to an effective scheme of reforms.
