RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
DERAILED CARRIAGES TOPPLE OVER EMBANKMENT. ELEVEN PERSONS INJURED. Sydney, March 11. An accident occurred to the Sydney to Brisbane mail train at Blandford early this morning, when two carriages were derailed and overturned. Details are meagre. It is understood that there are no serious casualties. Received 11th 9.38 p.m. Sydney, March 11. JTlie accident occurred to the mail train from Narrabri, not Brisbane, as at first reported. All traffic on the northern line, including the Brisbane mail, was blocked for several hours. The pasengers were transferred from th« scene of the mishap, and, reached Sydney this evening. Tfle refrigerating car next to the engine first left the rails, two second-class carriages following. These toppled over a slight embankment. The remainder of the train kept to the line. Many of the passengers were asleep at the time. They were rudely awakened by the shock. Those in the overturned cars behaved splendidly. Darkness impeded the work of rescue until fires were lighted, by which the passengers remained, and the injured were tended, until the arrival of relief trains.
Altogether 11 were injured, all slightly. The damage to the rolling stock is heavy.
