ENQUIRY CONTINUED. Per Press Association. Ohirstchurch, Last Night, The Te Oranga Home enquiry was continued this afternoon. Evidence was given by Mrs. Bean, a relative of the ijirl over wliom some difference arose mwtlj Wtween Ihe matrons of the Samaritan and Te Oranga Homes Mrs. I'.i'im slated that Mrs. Banting had delayed forwarding a favorable reporl on the girls. Miss Early, matron of the Samaritan Heine, seemed to be prejudiced against, the girl. The second witness was the girl herself, who stated that she was badly treated at the Home. The food was bad and insufficient, and the continual nagging of the attendants was unbearable. She admitted that she had a violent temper, and that she quarrelled with girls as well as the staff. She had attempted suicide, and was sent to the mental hospital for six weeks. Mrs Banting got her transferred to the Samaritan Home. Miss Hawden, an exemployee at To Oranga, also gave evidence.' She, said that the matron engag : ed her as clerk, and afterwards required her to undertake the duties of attendant, as she made several charges against the matron relating tßthe management and flnnaces of the Home.
