ENGLISH LICENSING BILL.
London, March 8. There was great enthusiasm at a mass meeting held at Burton-on-Trent to consider the Licensing Bill. Lord Burton declared the Bill would entail absolute ruin to Burton and other towns in connection with the brewery trade. His own firm stood to lose £2,000,000, which was invested in licensed houses upon mortgages. If a sinking fund had to be created, it would mean that no dividends could be paid. >
