Last night the 'riu-alrc ltoval was well attended to witness the extraordinary performance of legerdemain and magic given by -farter" the magician and Miss Abigail Price. Each and every member of the audience oune prepared to witness the mysterious, and were mystified to tlw full. Mr. Carter's easy and nolished, style, coupled with I an amusing and attractive How of cli-.U, | soon placed his audience in great good humor. Hi' commenced his programme with some clever card work, which established him as a master of magic. The feat of tilling goblets with cohircd paper and by the. waving of a wand producing a jug -of cream and a .-teaming cup of coffee was neat in the extreme mill puzzling to many. A great amount of mirth was occasioned by the "rapping" replies of a wooden hand placed upon a square of glass. Then there was life glass bottle from which, I after it had yielded various liquors, a I lively guinea pig was produced, around the neck of which was suspended a riblion and a ring, the latter previously borrowed from a lady in the audience and apparently smashed with a hummer. Mrs. Carter, in a spangled costume, was raised in a chair by a lift, only to disappear completely upon the tiling of a pistol. Cabinet work followed and all'orded much diversion, llr. Carter, bound in a chair by memliers of the -'audience and placed in a comI partment of the cabinet, changed coats in n twinkling with a gentleman of the audience. . Miss Abigail Price gave a wonderful exposition in mental telepathy, answering dozens of questions written and retained by members of the audience, and disclosing the names of the querists.
