A BYE-ELECTION. London. March 4. Ihe bye-election for Hastings, necessitated by the resignation of Mr. William Harvey Du Cros, resulted in the return of Mr. Arthur Du Cros, a on of tlie retiring member. The voting was: Du Cros (I'nionist) 4495 K. Vernon Harcourt (Liberal) ..3477 Mr. Du Cros attributes his victory to his attitude on the tariff reform c|ucstion, particularly in regard to colonial preference.
