CENTRAL SCHOOL PICNIC.
The Keereation Orounds presented a gav appearance yesterday afternoon on the occasion of the Central Scliool picnic .Many had ridiculed the idea of holding tile picnic in the Itecreation ((rounds, but it is doubtful if a more ideal spot could have been chosen. The early part of the afternoon was devoted to athletic events on the sports groun I, 011 which, alio, Aunt Sally, shying at the coco-nut, and numerous side-shows were provided. A number of swimming races were held on the lake, and were- productive ot some very large fields, some close aiid exciting finishes ensuing. Prior to the serving out of tea to the children.. Cheers were then given for the team. .Mr. Cm-kin (chairman of the school committee) announced that some time ago a miniature rille range had been established to improve the shooting. He had olTcrel six prizes for six sfffall matches.
