Deceased had been .sutl'ering from 1,11*11,3 pectoris. The throat was cut s., deepIly that the tongue was severed. Deceased's wrist was also gashed to the bone. A verdict of death from Hounds self-inllieled was returned. Feihling, Last Night •T0!,,, Hood, late of Lake Wakatipu. committed suicide at Rnngiwahia veslei'day afternoon bv puttinn- u windlass rope round his neck, and jumping down 1 a well. At the inquest a verdict of "Uicide while temporarily insane was returned. 1
JOHN HOWELL'S DEATH. I <, x, . Napier, Last Night. At the inquest on the bodv of'.Toliu Howell, who died as the result of injuries sustained in ~ wrestling contest, at the Caledonian Sports, the evidence of the two judges of Hie contest „f a professional wrestler, and of one of the doctors who attended him and who saw he occurrence, was to the effect thai there had not been the slightest trace of rough handling or unfairness i„ the wrestling, and that the accident seemed to have been caused in a purely accidental manner, the deceased bavin" twisted his neck in Irving to recover himself. The medical evidence was that death was caused by laceration of the spinal cord. The inquest was adjourned to allow information to be obtained as to the practice or otherwise of usin-r mats in field wrestling. "
