The .Mayor of Christchurch formally opened the Christchurch Theatre tonight in the presence of an immense attendance ot the public, every seat being occupied, reserved seats having been let days beforehand. The chief of Australasian entrepreneur*, Mr. J. 0. Williamson, had the pleasure of opening the new building with the "IHue .Moon' Company. The National Anthem was snug by the company, who were greeted with prolonged cheers. The .Mayor then advanced to the stage and brielly declared the theatre opened. He congratulated the proprietary on their enterprise in building so magnificent a theatre. .Mr. Williamson's representatives (Messrs. R. Stewart and H. J.
