Tlie Registrar of the Supreme Court. Mr. W. A. D. Bunks, yesterday re;d liio judgment in tlie case Shrodowski v. fladley, in which the pluintifl" claimed the forfeiture of lands (hat, had been leased to defendant for the purpose oj boring for petroleum, the action being based on the grounds that conditions or covenants entered into had not been complied with, the rent being in arrears and unpaid. When the writ was issued, the defendants moved the Court for relief of forfeiture for breach of covenant. The summons was heard at Auckland on December 22nd last, and judgment was reserved. Mr. Weston appeared f<u> the plaintiff, and Mr. Bnnmc, K.(.'., audi Mr. Prendcrgast (acting for Messrs Malone. Anderson and Johnstone), for defendant. Relief from forfeiture was allowed on the terms that defendants should pay plaintiff all moneys due under the proviso for the payment of rent—a shilling per acre per year—within fourteen 'lays, the amount to he agreed upon. Failing agreement amongst the parties, or n» U\e event of dispute, the amount is to IK" settled by the Registrar of the Court at New Plymouth, defendants to pay 10 guineas, the costs of their motions.
