The Works Committee reported: - That the committee had authorised the extension of water-pipes to liecordstreet, Fitzroy. and to Ntamlish-strcel. Yogeltown; they recommended that l'ie borough engineer bring down a scheme Oi reorganisation of the waterworks and of the waterworks stall', ami that (lie Town Clerk report upon the question of tile charges for water either within or without the borough: that the borough engineer report as to the advisability of constructing a by-pa.->s main at the reservoir; that the borough engineer be authorised to give, effect to Ins recommendation that tenders be invited for stone-hauling required for the crusher site; that Mr. Parkin be informed that lie will not lie permitted to cart across the abattoir reserve, and that lie be required to pay the sum of .12 10s for trespass fees and damage to the reserve by cartage already done by him: that the borough engineer be i instructed to take action against Mrs. F.nrollt for l>reacli of borough l<-laws I dealing with the water-supply; that the Klthain Borough Council be informed that the committee regret being unable to see their way to hire tnem the trac-tion-engine, it being almost in constant use; that the work in Morley-street be suspended for a fortnight to enable the foreman to proceed with the tarring, sanding, and asphalting already authorised: that in all eases where the Town Clerk is satisfied that any extraordinary supply of water is being used, be be instructed to collect the fee for the current year—in the event of payment not bring immediately forthcoming proceedings to be taken for breach of the bylaws; that the bowling and tennis clti'is be informed that as tile Council understand that excessive use is being made of the. water in Hooding their lawis, their charges will lie doubled for the current year, and that in the event of the charge not l>eing agreed to. they be at liberty to instal a meter and pa/s for the quantity of water used: that Mr. C. Kyngdon's tender of C 228 10s for earthwork in Vivian -street in accordance wit ii the engineer's specifications be accepted; that the borough foreman be authorised to order 2."> sacks of oats as per sample from K. Orilliths and Co. at :ss per bushel; that the. office hours (if the borough engineer be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. daily, except on Thursdays, when the hour' will be from 12 to 1 p.m.
