Alfred Houghton, a lad, of 15 years who was travelling on the round trij: from England and buck on the steamer -Uppingham Grange, fell down a holtt of the vessel to-day ami hurt his back, Fearing injury to the spine, Dr. Ciilmer ordered the lad's removal to the hospital.

Bimcdin, Last Night. A sul accident occurred in the railway shunting yards here this evening. William Wilson, a boy si/„ years of age, was playing on sumo shunting trucks, and fell between two of them. Several trucks and carriages passed over him, one leg being completely cut oil' and the other was so badly crushed that it had to lie amputated at the hospital, whilli. cr the hoy was quickly removed. It is not expected that the lad will recover.
The Eltlnun Argus reports that Mrs.G. 11. Gibson sustained a very painful accident on Wednesday evening. She «ii- being driven by her husband from I lie Ellhani railway station towards To Itoli when, about a mile and a-half down the South Mountain road, tlie horse became fractious, alarmed, it is supposed, by a cyclist coming down the hill. Mrs. Gibson was thrown out and sustained a severe fracture above the ankle. The other occupant' of tile ve J j hide escaped uninjured.
