Per Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. The Supreme Court criminal session concluded tthis afternoon. John W. Morris, regarding whose case one jury had disagreed, was, with additional evident, convicted „f misappropriating .-Co, moneys collected for bis employer, and was" sentenced to six months' imprisonment. At the Supreme Court this afternoon ' Edward j.cydon, a letter carrier, was ' found guilty of stealing a postal packet, I containing jewellery, and was sentenced ; to Is months' imprisonment. James J Mahiehy Sheridan was arraigned on an ' indictment, charging him with the lmin- ' slaughter of John .McNally at Wellington on ,'lrd January, 1008. The evidence was mainly on the lines of that • telegraphed at the time of the oceuri rence and at the inquest. Two wili nesscs said they had seen deceased in a I very drunken state, being assisted by Sheridan to a place where he could sit • down. One witness said he saw deceased fall and strike his head heavily on the >' footpath. The defence was that de-ica-ed's death was really accidental.
