HOSPITAL FIRE APPLIANCES.
Per Press Association. Dunedin. Last Night. At a meeting „f the Hospital Trustees to-day. the question of the necessity for precaution.; against fire at the hospital was conshlerol. 'The chairman (Mr. S. Soh.iiianl said it was generally agreed by their architects (Messrs. .Mason and Wallsi. Superintendent Mitchell, and by Dr. Vniiutine that the present precautions were insullicient. The architects reported that the whole of the (buildings, wiih the exception of the main central block, are built as fireproof as possible. They recommended the provision of an■iliM' exit from the upper ward of the nc.lical pavilion, also iron balconies and slaiis at each end of the pavilions, simi. lar precautions to lie adopted in regard lo the nurses'home. Additional watersupply and stand-pipes were recommended, also iire extinguishers in the walls oi tic corridors, and a further lire alarm in the main building to connect with the lire brigade station. The report was referred to the I'.uilding Committee, with power to act in conjunction with the archile-ts.
