TARANAKI ANNUAL REGATTA.

The Taranalci annual regatta eventuates at Waitara to-day. Tlie river is reported to be in excellent order, and the tides ave atlmirably suitable, .-o there seems to beuothing to prevent some good rowing lieing witnessed, 'lhere are several trews from Wanganui competing in the outrigger events, whilst there are four clnlis to tlo battle in the wiialeboat events, These evoke no small amount of enthusiasm. The Waitara men generally make more than a failshowing against the rowing men from outside, and wc trust that the spoils will be well divided to-day. All the arrangements are well in band. Nuinerous amusements and sideshows have been prepared for the day's business, and Waitara has laid itself out to cater welj for the erowd that is expected by train from north and goutli.
