Per Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. At the Supreme Court to-day Adeline l'rancis pleaded guilty to a charge of having forged an acknowledgement of receipt of a registered letter containing £2. She was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Wellington Last Night. At tho Supreme Court to-day Phyllis Terarro, charged with assaulting Gustnv Tamm with intent to maim him or in» Ilict grievous bodily harm, was found guilty of unlawfully wounding, and recommended to mercy on the ground of' the general muddle through drink of tho other parties to the quarrel which led lip to the wounding. Accused was remanded till to-morrow for sentence. Edward Winter was acquitted on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl. Auckland, Last Night.

At tho Supreme Court to-day, Alfred Crossey, who ivas convicted 011 Monday on two charges o£ false pretences, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment. At the Supreme Court this afternoon J,tines a man about 40 years of age, pleaded not yrilty to three charges of indecent assault. The assault occurred in Victoria Park on December 30th last, and the victims of the outrage are three little girls, aged .respectively G, 7, and 8 years. Evidence was given to the effect that the three children were playing in the Victoria Park when they (net the prisoner, who tampered with them, and then gave them money to buy lollies. His actions were observed by some men who went up to him, when the prisoner declared that the children were his own. One of the little girls, however, was recognised by one of the men. Tn sentencing the prisoner to seven years' hard labor his Honor said that in this Court, two years ago the prisoner had been convicted of a~~Simi' lar filthy assault upon a little girl. It was quite clear that he was one of those men who ought never to be allowed at large or given liberty at all. If it were in his power he would have treated him as an habitual criminal.
