Deceased, after leaving had been arrested several times, ai'd then had gone to wiliicss for assistance, residing with him at intervals. she had complained of being weak and wanted to go to the hospital, but'-as witness did not think she cjuld be t.;km as an in-patient without the order of a doctor, she did not go. On Tuesday she became so bad that at 2 p.m. witness sent his son to the doctor who had been attending her, so that he could get an order for her admittance thereto. He returned by the (t.W train, and r»aid ihat as the doctor was attached to the hospital he could not leave the hospital to see deceased. Witness did not ask for ail order as he understood it was lieees- ] sary for a doctor to sec a patient before ■ iidmissiou. Deceased was able 1o look after herself up to Sunday last, after which witness had attended to her. The whole of the time during Tuesday afternoon deceased appeared to be sleeping, and death occurred about 5.A0 o'clock. A doctor and the police were sent for, and on their arrival Dr. Henry pronounced life to be extinct. Dr. Henry, who had made a post mortem examination, said there was an abscess on thc surface of the brain, and another at thc base. He attributed death to the condition of the brain, Thc condition of deceased's liver indicated that she had been given to intemperate habits. A' verdict was returned of "death from inflammation of the brain.' 5
