The totalisator figures for the Takapuna meeting were £26,021, a decrease of £OBO4 on last year's Total, but \<th bookmakers' fees running into £720, the (club's recent meeting pans out even more successfully than that of the summer of 1907.

Twenty-four bookmakers took out licenses on Saturday, and the public appear to be coming round to the pencil-I'-rs* side again, and tliey will soon be doing the same business as a few seasons ago when Auckland clubs favored the "gentlemen of the racuous voice." Hautapu led off by winning the Waiwera Hurdle Race from end to end. The old fellow made light of his twelve stone eight, and scored comfortably from Lady Hune and Claremont. - Ponies are generally quick beginuers, and Mighty Atom jumped off quickest iu the Borough Handicap and led the field a "cracker" to the straight, when Lucio, who is a full-brother to Lucrece, came with a strong run and won easily by a couple of lengths from th<} top-weight, Celerity, who ran up well in the straight. Duart was close up third, and Slighty Atom next. The Summer Handicap was a line race, and after Uranium and PohuH| had made the pace for half-a-mile, Certainty (Gray) and Veronica (Conquest) came through and raced neck and neck up the straight, passing tlie judge's box locked together, the man in the box de : daring a dead-heat. The time, lmin 43sec., jvaa fast for the Takapuna course.

In the Pony Kace Buchanan kept Iniprimus in a nice position all the way, and catching Glenora at the distance, the daughter of Phoebus Apollo won by half a length. Necktie was only a neck away third, and the rest close up. Lady Frances was quickly taken to the front in the Ponui Handicap, and making the pace warm, gave the heavyweights a look-in, winning handsomely by five lengths. The Marine Handicap was only an exercise canter for Master Soult, and he led all the way, passing the post a comfortable winner by half a length. colt won the three' two-year-old races at the meeting and showed a good dash of „pecd. 11. Gray had the mount on each occasion, and when he drew the wiiip : in the Hobson Handicap on Wednesday, Master Soult finished gamely, and gradually wearing down ltarata in the final stages, won by a hare head. Black and Gold led the field in the Ocypnpont Handicap to the straight,j where Lochbuhie and Lucrecc put in their claims, and the former won easily bv a couple of lengths from Lucrecet who beat Black and Gold for second dividend hv hnlf a length. Miss Winnie and Cadence finished next. , Sweet Alice was last to leave the mark in the Welter Handicap, and was ridden a waiting race until a couple of furlongs from home, where she ran through the field, and cutting down Tin Cakobau in the run home, won easily by two lengths. Ic Beau was third and ifenrv Havelock next. Declov rode three winners on the concluding'day and H. Gray steered Master Soult and the dead-heater Certainty. The pony Frcerick has been awarded the welter weight of 11 stone in each of the pony events at the Otahuhu Club's summer meeting. While l>eing led from the Takapuna course to the Devonport wharf after the races 011 Saturday Frederick was knocked down by an ' omnibus, and one of his legs was severely lacerated. Master Soult was awarded 8.11 in the Australian Cup, hut the weight was considered excessive, and he will hardly start in the long-distance handicap.
