_ Tlic duties of the Board will be to ■ divide the service into three divisions, the jirst including positions to which there is attached a maximum salary of £SOO or more, except such positions as tlie Board considers to be more suitably classified in the second division. It is left to the Board to decide what positions shall be included in the second division, while the third division is to contain all the postions to which is attached a maximum salary of less than £SOO which the Bdard does not consider suitable for inclusion in the second division. TTievc is provision in the Act for appeal by civil servants against the Board's classification, and wlien the classification has been finally approved' by the Governor in Council it has to be laid before Parliament, and comes into force upon the passing of a reselution j to that effect by the House of Representatives.

The Board to administer the Public Service Superannuation Fund will consist of ten members—namely, a Minister of tli 0 Crown, four appointed by the Governor in Council, two elected by the contributors in tlic Post and Telegraph Department, and three by the contributors in other departments of the Civil Service. The Minister who Ims been appointed and will act as chairman of the Board is the Hon. Dr. Findlay (Min. ister of Internal Affairs), while Cabinet decided to-day,thnt the other members nominated by the Crown should be Colonel Collins, Mr. J. W. Poynton (Public Trustee), Mr. J. H. Hiehardson (Government .Insurance Commissioner) and Mr. W. C. Kensington. 1 Mr. A. Smith, who was appointed a short time ago as secretary of the Superannuation Board, has now been appoint, ed secretary of the Public Service Classifieation Board and the Officers' Guarantec Fund.
