Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wei liugtuu, have reiVived the following cable messages from their London house under dale of the 3Ulh illst.: Butter. —The market is very linn in consequence of short stocks. The Copenhagen otlicial quotation is 2 kroner (atout 2s 3d) per cut higher. We expect higher prices. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for the week endiug 25th instant amounted to 71,000c\vt, as compared with !)U,300 cwt for the corresponding week of 1907, I showing a decrease of 25,;100cwt. halted and unsaltcd, 12Us.' Frozen Meat—Lamb: Prices are unchanged. Mutton: Prices are weaker. Beef: .Prices arc decidedly easier. Tallow. —The market, is exceedingly dull, and there is hardly any business 1 doing. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, held their usual sale of skiite, hides, and lallow at Wellington on Ffidav, :tlst instant, when a lengthy catalogue of skins and hides was submitted to a larger attendance of buyers than usual. The demand for skins was not keen, and a decline of >,U\ to %d per lb was experienced in the best classes, and Id to l'/ 2 d for inferior. Hides were well competed for, and prices showed an advance of about '/ 4 d per lb on last sale rates. Calfskins were not in good de-

Mr. Newton King has received a cable from his Sydney agent advising that hides are an eighth to a farthing higher.
