The "all-round championship" awarded to the coni|K-(itor scoring points ill putting the weight, 220 yards flat, mill' (laf. throwing tlie hammer, and long jump, re-ulted:—L. McKay (Wellington) 1. r.. L. Paul (Wellington) 2, C. T. Thoina<seii (Wellington) :l. Tiie condition- attached to this event uive. 'MO leal idea as (o the best athlete" on Hie ground, and the item should either lie eliminated from future programmes or tlie conditions altered >o that the middle di--tnices and hurdle events are

included. Ihe announcement that Henerson, Murray, Stuhhcrlield, McKay (Wellington), l'remhath and Orbell have been selected to represent the Dominion at the Australasian championship meettag has caused some feeling here, and it meeting of the Wellington Centre will be held on Tuesday evening to consider the matter. Kerr's omission is objected to, and it is not unlikely lie will lie sent across to Hobart, as it is considered he is far ahead of Stulibersliold in walking. The Seeling here is that Wellington centre alone, with the addition of j Trembath, could send a team worthy of upholding the reputation of the Dominion at the meeting. The shield lias again been won by Wellington, and the question of points was freely discussed on the ground, opinions being expressed that the chance of winning the shield was all in favor of the town in which the meeting was held, owing to the large number of competitors it could put on the track, and thus scoring minor points, Tt was openly admitted in the championship events that only firsts should count. Had ibis system been in vogue it could not have effected the result, as Wellington scored 7>/ 2 wins, Canterbury 4, Southland 2, Auckland 1, and Otngo %. The question of points is one which should receive the earnest, consideration of the New Zealand Council.
