Auckland, Wednesday. The volcano on fciavii, aainoa, continues active with but slight intcruU--1 sious." The passengers by the Navua, which arrived hero to-day, had a magnificent view of the volcano by night. A severe hurricane blew over a portion of the Fiji group for two days about a fortnight back. It was especially destructive at Lowalouia, From scanty reports to hand it seems that great damage was done to copra plan* tations and. several buildings on the shore, including Marks' store, were destroyed. A small steamer, the Parua, was driven on a reef and completely wrecked. The Ripple was also driven on a reef, but had a better fate, being refloated. The ketches were completely broken up: An overdue cutter, it is feared, haa sunk at sea in a hurricane.
