ARMY MEAT CONTRACTS.

AUSTRALIANS AT A DISADVANTAGE. Beeeived 20th, 4.32 p.m London, January 20. Mr Taverner, Agent-General for Victoria, interviewed the Rt. Hon. R. BHaldane, Minister for War, and complained that the alterations in the War Office specifications for the tinned meat contracts closing on January 13th, and permitting the use of cheaper tins, had placed Victorian tenderers at a disadvantage compared with Americans. Mr Haldane regretted a mistake had been made, and promised that Australia would be given ample notice of alterations to specifications in future.
