0 AUCKLAND CARNIVAL. Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the swimming carnival this evening the quarter-mile championship of Auckland was contested, six competing. M. E. Champion, of Auckland, was first; .). Grant, late of the West Coast, second; and A. W. Kean, of Auckland, third. Only- the three finished. Champion's time was given as 6min 19sec,' which established a record for New Zealand, the previous best being Oinin 28sec, by Bull of Christchurch. One of the timekeepers made Champion's time two seconds slower.
