iron, publishing a somewhat belated result of the Stratford sports, a eontemporary scribe seems to have developed a prophetic eye, and sees prospects of another club carnival and the programme therefor. As a matter of fact us statement is somewhat premature; the committee have jiot had another exhibition under consideration and consequently no programme has' been discussed.

On .Saturday next the annual swimming sports for girls will be held in the -New 1 lymouth Oaths. It is interesting to observe that the old rale of "ladies nrst still holds good, for they are goin" to be the first in utilising the wat-° chute for competitive diving. The programme also includes diving from die ■spring board, a 00yds handicap fur girls under 15, 33yds handicap for girls 13 and under, and a 33yds handicap for girls under-11. .Mrs .vewman is actio* a « secretary and organiser of the sports I understand that the mere male will not be allowed to obtrude his presence 01 more than passing interest is the carnival at .Napier, posted to take place m -March. It should be specially attr.ictive to swimmers in the first place, because of the New Zealand championship events being allocated to take place there this year. Included in the first day s (March 19th) programme of swimming races is the 100 yds and the 880 yds championships. On the second day (March 23rd) there will \ K brought ~'r the 220 yds, the 440 yds, and the 200 yds breast stroke championships. It should also be an object lesson to the people of New Plymouth as to what should he done to make the town popular as -i summer resort. During earnival week at Isapier there will be an inter-provin-cial tennis tournament, sailing clubs' regatta, marine excursions, pleasure boating driving, theatrical entertainments, and other forms of amusement—a vari-d list, surely!
