Antkmj' Comstock, president of the New Vlirk Society for the Suppression if Vice, testified tiiat Thaw called in 11)1)1 aiiil complained of a gang of six or seven rich criminals who conducted orgies nod drugged and illfreated young •dris at two houses in New York. Thaw said that one room was furnished like a forest, with secret stairs leading to another room hung with mirrors. The drugged girls were unable to escape, as I the doors were difficult to find. He described the third room as being approached by a door concealed behind a picture, and declared that the room contained a valuable French painting of peculiarly infamous suggestiveness. Thaw gave the names of five girl victims, and offered to supply secret setvico funds. He suggested that Helen Gould might be asked to subscribe. Comstock stated that Be" never gained admission to the house. Comstock indicated that I Thaw was sane at the time.
