OLD SOLDIERS' GRAVES.
ANOTHER CHAPTER OUT OF HISTORY. llr Henry Faull informed a " News " representative yesterday tliat the body of an old man named Young was buried in the Courtenav street cemetery. He was not killed in action, but lost his life in an almost equally tragic fashion. In those early days, said Mr Faull, sports meeting used to be held near the site of the present Coffee I'alace. There was on one occasion a very big crowd there, and fur some reason or other they pressed closely T)Ut solidly towards the banks of the Mangaotuku stream. ''Those behind cried 'forward,' and those in front cried 'back'." There was no room to spring, so as to reach the opposite banks, and The foremost ones had to jump into the stream. One of these was the mill referred to at the opening of this paragraph, and lie was drowned.
