INSPECTOR CUT IN TWO. Per Press Association. Ohakune, Wednesday. Mr W. A. Floyd, inspector on the Mai» Trunk line for the last ten years, was killed at the station to-day. He was knocked over by a train and cut iH two.
Wellington, Wednesday. A_ child, ten months old, daughter of Christopher Gallagher, of Coromandel street, was found drowned in a bath at her parents' residence yesterday. There were only nine inches of water in the bath at the time. Lyttelton, Wednesday. This morning Harold E. Ward, a young man, was found dead in his bedroom at the British Hotel, where he stayed overnight. He had only removed his boots. Visiting cards i'n hia pocket gave his occupation as the manager of Nurse Maud's camp. Hamilton, Last Night. Albert Julian, aged six years and half, the son of a billiard-marker, went for a bathe in the Waikato river. He stepped from the shore into twelve feet of water and was drowned. Another lwy of the same age declined to enter the water. A sad feature is that the boy's mother is in the hospital with typhoid, and was to come out on Friday. Nelson, Last Nigfliij An old settler named Gardiner Hunter, of Waimea West, died suddenly today.
Wellington, Last Night. A young man, whose identity is in doubt, was drowned at Lyell's Day, Mnranni, this morning while bathing'. The manager of the Evan's Bay Timber Co. says the body is that of Heine Wichei'ii, recently in the company's employ, but another man at the mili disagrees with this. Matters are further complicated by the finding on deceased's clothing of a receipt, in the name of Clarke. Auckland, List Night. An old woman named Elizabeth Duffnell, a widow, was found dead in her house at Parnell this evening, in circumstances pointing to suicide. She lived alone, and not having been seen' for several days, her daughter paid a visit to the house to-night, and found the body of the old woman lving in tih passage with her throat cut,' and a pair of scissors covered in blood lyiii" clow' l^-
